A new day, a new adventure.

Guess what we woke up to this morning? Yup, snow. It wasn't all that bad. Just a couple inches and it melted off quickly. We had breakfast and let the kids swim for a little while. Then we made our way through the sites of the Black Hills.

so first we stopped off at Mount Rushmore... it was foggy and cold, yet the weather didn't diminish the majestic view. We loved driving through the hills and seeing the breathtaking rock formations and the pines trees blanketed with fresh snow. Then, we headed further down to the Crazy Horse monument, but not before having a close encounter with a mountain goat! He was very easy going , Jeremy was glad he didn't ram the car! He was really close, maybe 12 feet away.

When we arrived at the Crazy Horse monument the mini documentary was playing, so we listened and watched the history of how it all began and where it is all going. All I can say is WOW! The work involved is unbelievable, what a feat. The time the sculpture spent talking to the natives, and coming up with a carving to work from. The old air compressor he had to use that would die on him time after time and he would have to make tedious trips up an down the mountain to get it running again. How the family remains to this day working together to complete their father's dream. I hope it will be finished in my lifetime. I would love to see it all finished. It dwarfs Mount Rushmore. The museum was fun to go through also. We were able to see a lot of Native American art and history. The many sculptures and scale models that they work from. We were also able to see where they all live and part of the art studio. We had a great experience today.

After all our site seeing we made it into Douglas, Wyoming. We are spending the night here. We are exhausted, after one last night swim, we are going night, night. Finally, off to Colorado in the Morning!!!!!!! Psst... today I made some mittens for Cassidy - she will need them! Take care peeps! XOXOXO
